The multi-active ingredient complex produced from it is a completely natural bio-lipid complex, which is obtained via an extraction process of cork oak and coconut oil. This active ingredient stimulates cell regeneration, has a strengthening effect and improves the moisture balance. BIRKENSTOCK takes advantage of the natural regeneration ability of the cork oak, which constantly renews its bark layer by itself. The cork oak extract from BIRKENSTOCK NATURAL SKIN CARE also offers an effective anti-aging effect thanks to the properties found in the raw material that promote skin elasticity.
Cork oak has a fully environmentally friendly life cycle: Cork oak forests can bind around 14 million tons of CO2 annually and thus, produce a sufficient amount of oxygen equivalent to a small town supply. In addition, due to its ability to regenerate, it is a renewable raw material. The bark is gently hand-peeled in 9-year cycles. In addition, cork oak forests are biotopes for countless animal species and thus, make an irreplaceable contribution to the conservation of biodiversity.
